The Klezmatics with Joshua Nelson - Brother Moses Smote the Water
World renowned Grammy-winning superstars of the Klezmer world, the Klezmatics celebrate their 30th anniversary at Congregation Emanu-El as they bring us their music steeped in spiritualism and Eastern European tradition while incorporating themes of social justice.
In this concert, they join forces with Joshua Nelson, the Prince of Kosher Gospel, to explore the complexity of Jewish identity, Black identity, and humankind. Age-old Hebrew Passover songs will be melded with the African soul tradition, echoing the great stylings of Mahalia Jackson.
